Whatcha Say?

Whatcha say? Say it again, and remember it later.

In the middle of the night, when one or both of us can’t sleep

Something about a lover that seems to be on the same

  Inner clock, two-stepping, between dreams

Whatcha say, ahhh.  That’s sweet.

You laugh with your eyes closed tight

Deep into the ripples remind me of notes being born

What if I chose to say I love you, take it out of my mind today

Been on my mind, just waiting for the right time

This kind of love ain’t a whisper, I tried whispering in the shower

While you were washing your hair, jasmine and steam were rising

                                      I love you. I whispered.

You tilted your head back into the force of the wa’ter

Could you help me? I rinsed your hair, you didn’t hear me

Now listening to your laugh, looking out at the world, looking at us. One day, I’m saying, ‘Babe, I love you. For now, I’ll hold you while you laugh.
